One if the Yearta researchers shared something valuable with me, and I wanted to post it for this list. William Lafayette Yearta, brother of Greenberry Yearta, married Matilda Brooks on 25 December 1853 in BentonCo, AL. When viewing the 1850 census for BentonCo, AL, I found her parents, Abel (age 54) and Mary (age 48SC) Brooks with several children. Matilda (age 21GA) and Elizabeth (age 16GA), who married Greenberry Yearta, were listed. This definitely confirms that at least one Yearta was in the area of Benton (Calhoun) County, AL in the 1850s prior to arriving in Hendrixville, DeKalbCo, AL by 1862 when the brothers enlisted in the Civil War. It is also my feeling that Greenberry Yearta was probably in BentonCo, AL, as well. Does any other researcher have anything on any Yeartas in the BentonCo, AL areas?
