Hi Mary,
My name is Rebekah Hearn, and I live in Memphis, TN. I’m trying to help my boyfriend find out a little bit about his family. His name is Tommy Lee Yearout III. His father and grandfather, Tommy Lee Yearout Jr. and Sr., both live in the Memphis area also. However, his grandfather was the youngest in his family and doesn’t know a lot about his ancestry. Tommy was raised by his great-aunt, Mary Yearout, who I think he said was born in the early 1900’s. He said he remembers her saying their family had once lived in Union City. You have a post on geneology.com, a rather old one from 2001, where you mention that you belong to the line of Yearouts that went to VA and later settled in West TN. Do you know anything about Yearouts in Union City? Tommy needs to try to find out, if he can, the name of his great-granddad (and great-great-granddad) so we can do some more tracing. Unfortunately he doesn’t think his grandfather knows his grandfather’s name, so we might be stuck there.
If you have any info you’d like to share about the Yearouts from West TN, we’d love to know it. Tommy would like to know what line of Yearouts he belongs to, and if he can trace it back to Carl Yearout (Karl Jahraus).
Tommy also mentioned that as a child, his great-aunt Mary gave him a book on the Yearout family history. I have heard of two books on the Yearouts in my short research, but I think the one he’s talking about is “200 Years of Yearout in America.” Do you have this book and/or know where it can be found?
Thanks so much for your help. If you want to write to Tommy his email is autobodytommy@yahoo.com.
=),
Rebekah
