Thanks for responding. Mainly, I am trying to complete blanks in the Morgan family tree. I would like to know about their birth, death and where they lived. I show Nancy Morgan was born about 1806 in Laurens County, South Carolina, and died after 1848 (last records in Perry County, Alabama).
Nancy Morgan was not a direct ancestor. She should be a sibling of William Morgan who married Margaret Cunningham. These are my husband's ancestors and both were born in Laurens County, South Carolina and died in Perry County, Alabama.
Nancy Morgan Yeargan is listed first in probate records for John Morgan, another sibling, in Perry County, Alabama records.
From minutes of Orphan's court, Book D, p. 333: Dec. 6, 1844
Wm. Morgan applied for letters of administration on the estate of John Morgan, dec'd. Wm. is next of kin to said John, and has given bond with James Underwood, George Berry, and Wm. A. Spear as his securities.
From minutes of probate court, Book E, p. 202, 9 July 1847. Final settlement of John Morgan, dec'd. by Wm. Morgan, admr. Publication has been made in the Marian Review. Estate distributed to:
1) Wiley Yeargan in the right of his wife, Nancy, formerly Nancy Morgan, sister of intestate.
There are nine siblings listed in the probate records for John Morgan. One sibling, Lawson Morgan, is listed as dec'd. From other records, it appears Lawson died between February 9, 1846 - July 19, 1847, in Marshall County, Mississippi. Another sibling, a brother, had died in 1840 and was not referenced in the probate records for John. Several of the siblings were living in Marshall County, Mississippi during the time of these records.
Thanks in advance for any information you are willing to share about Nancy Morgan and Wiley Yeargin (Yeargan).
