Eurgain/Ergin/etc./Wales

I contacted a records dept. in Wales a while back, hoping to find something re the Yeargain surname. It seems that sometimes it is used as a female given name in Wales BUT of interest to the American Yeargain family is that there is an old section in northern Wales called lan eurgain for a very early saint, which leads me to think that the early Yeargains lived in this area and took this place-name as their surname. Samuel Yeargain of my line, m. a Jefferson/Jeaffreson descendant, whose line, according to the Pres., came from Mt. Snowden in Wales, which turns out to be almost due west of this Lan Eurgain.
