Mr. Farmer: I think it is interesting that your ancestor, Sir John Yeamans, was supposed to have been the FIRST Gov. of SC - (or the Carolinas) but from what I understand - due to other obligations - he was unable to make the trip to the Carolinas at that time. William Sayle was chosen...which - due to his advanced age, did not prove to be the best choice.(But that's history...) Have you heard of FIRST FAMILIES OF SOUTH CAROLINA? We have a great organization and meet in April of each year in Charleston...the main qualification is that you must prove lineage to an ancestor who was in SC before 1700/which is the cut-off date. (Let me know if you are interested...FF of SC is always happy to welcome new members.) Descendants of the early settlers arrive from all over the U.S. I try to make it every year. I lived in Charleston about 10 years prior to moving to the Spartanburg, SC area. Do not recall meeting a Yeamans descendant at our annual meetings. In looking over our membership list for 2001-2003, I do not think Sir John Yeamans is represented. How about you? I think it is time SOMEONE represented Sir John... I joined on my direct line - Gov. Robert Daniell 1646-1718, Gov. James Moore d. 1706, as well as Margaret Foster Berringer, George Beadon, John Raven, and Martha Wainwright Daniell. (But you only need ONE to join...) Surprised to hear that Kentucky has some questionable folks in politics there/I thought they were ALL in South Carolina! Best wishes, Fran
