Things posted may not be wrong. Check the German records on the Yonn Family, Hutto Family, Varnadoe Family, Salley Family and many more. These are from Church records from when these names first came to America. Many of the same family spelled their names different. For instance, the name Yawn, Yon, Yaun,Yohn,Yown, Youn as my Family spells it was first spelled YONN.My Great Grandfather was a Yawn as was my great Great Grandmother. Several of the Yawn kids are still alive in Ga. As a matter of fact, there is a Yawn reunion the 2nd weekend of June. I have many documents on the Yawn Family such as Bible Records, Cemetery Records, Land Deeds, Family Books written many years ago by Family members, and pictures through my direct lines.I have personally went to many many cem. to take pictures of headstones. The Yawn's came from Neuchatel germany.Thomas Nicholas Yonn was the 1st Yonn here.Check Ship records. He is found on land Records in 1757/1758 Lot 151- Goodland Swamp.Info can also be found in the book "A History of the Salley Family" From there on, the children can be traced through Land Records and Church Records. I followed mine to Ga. and was lucky enough to get info from our Family Bible that is still in the Family from the early 1800's. Also, you need to keep in mind that many of the census takers were illiterate themselves and only spelled names the way they thought it was spelled. I'm sure everyone has found many mistakes on census records as to dates of birth or order of birth, spelling of names. I have found that many times. Any Proffesional Genealogist will tell you that church records or Family Bibles hold true better than census records. P.S. I have heard many people say their Yawn's were Native American. Before thinking that, check the Indian Records, I have yet found any on record. You may also check with the Indian Tribes who keep up with these records. They will be glad to help you. If they were Native American, They will be on record and it will tell 1/2 blood, full blood, and so on. I am also of the Hutto,Varnadoe, Brooks, Rooks, Sumner, Willis, and many more lines.I have many old pictures.
Good Luck on your searches!!!!!!! Hope this helps someone.
