The Simon Yawn, Jr. that is listed here died in 1853 in Appling County, Georgia. It is not proven that he was the father of the children that are listed here. I don't think he was the father of several of them. Also, his wife is listed here as "Lettie Chavers." There is no evidence that he was married to Lettuce Chavers only that he fathered a child with her in 1789 in South Carolina. He was probably the father of David Yawn, Allen Yawn, Willis Jackson Yawn and some other younger Yawns that appear in the census records near him. My ancestor was Simon Odis Yawn b. 1827 and I suspect he was the grandfather of him, but we have no proof. A great-uncle of mine that was acquainted with many of the older Yawns had Simon Odis Yawn being a son of a Simon and Nancy Yawn, no doubt referring to Simon Yawn (1770-1853). However, I have always wondered if our Simon Odis Yawn was perhaps a son of Nancy Yawn who married Martin Williams in Telfair County in 1831 and that Nancy was a daughter of Simon Yawn (1770-1853). Thanks, Hank
