I have followed 2 YON/YAWN out of SC and into Ga. They are Simon Yon and Nicholas Yon.
In 1820 Simon Yawn is in Telfair County Ga. age 50-60 with family.
In 1820 Nicholas Yawn is in Columbia County Ga. age 50-60 with son David as neighbor age 20-30.
In 1830 i find Simon Yawn age 60-70 enumerated in Montgomery County Ga. with a neighbor John Odum who has daughter in family age of Louisa wife of Willis Jackson Yawn.
In 1830 Appling County Ga. i find a Nicholas Young age 60-70 and David Young age 30-40. I cannot find a Nicholas Young or David Young prior or after this Census, making me believe these are Yawn and enumerated as Young in error.
In 1840 Appling County Ga. i find Nicholas Yawn enumerated age 70-80 and David Yawn age 40-50.
In 1840 Appling County Ga. i find Simon Yawn age 70-80 also enumerated with family.
We know Nicholas died in late 40's and does not appear in 1850 Census of Appling County.
In 1850 Appling County Ga. Census Simon Yawn age 80 is still living and enumerated in dwelling/family 86/86 with Jesse Mobley, John Laraby, Benjamin Quinn, and Sherod Bird.
It is also known Simon Yawn Jr. had a son with neighbor of his father Simon Yon in 1790 Orangeburg SC Census, widow Lettice Chavers. Simon appeared in Court to pay support for this son. Was this first son of Simon Jr. the Nicholas Yawn that married Christine Selvester and left SC on passport for Ms. Territories? I also believe Willis Jackson Yawn is son of this Simon, and not a son of Nicholas father of David. Does anyone have proof to dissuade my thinking?
Also if intersted i have most of Willis Jackson Yawn and Louisa Jane Odum Yawn children and their families as enumerated when they reached La., some in household of mother and others that came to join them.
John Joseph Yawn and wife Candis Dickerson, son of Willis and Louisa had three(3) children. Cornelius W., Mires E., and Annie Almedia. Annie married Albert Lindsey Hennigan and they are my grand parents. Cornelius and Mires died young and buried according to granny on the old homeplace in Calcasieu Parish.
