James Edward Yawn was indeed a Methodist preacher. I just recently found a reference in some WPA material which states: "Clear Creek Methodist [Protestant]Church was organized in 1910 and is located in the northwestern part of Beat 5 [Perry Co.] on the banks of Clear Creek. The first pastor was Rev. J. E. Yawn who built the churchhouse and organized the church and Sunday School.

Uncle Eddie was a brother to my grandmother. I can remember seeing him and his wife, Aunt Ann a couple of times when they came to visit my grandmother. (many, many years ago when I was a child) I knew that he was a Methodist minister but this is the first time I've found any additional info. Would love to compare notes with you. It appears we are from the same generation. Which one of Dick and Martha Yawn's children was your grandparent?

Paula
