I'm looking for information about,Joseph Richard Yawn, born about 1843, he was my great grand father.He always told the family and census that he and his parents were born in GA. Family stories say the name may have been spelled Yaughn or Yahn and was a German name.
My records start about 1862 in Ellisville, Jones Co, MS. where he fought in the civil war. After the war he married Martha Ann Knight, daughter of Albert and Mary Mason Knight and continured to live in Mississippi.
Their children were daughter Ora A (Mary) b 1865, Isaac Newton b 1866, John Wesley b 1868, James Edward (Eddie) b 1871, Eliza Jane b 1876, Jessie Daniel b 1879, Minnie A b 1881, Henry Taylor b 1883 my grandfather, Joseph Gordon b 1885. and George Washington b 1887.
