Sherry. I, too, believe that Greenberry (Green Berry) Yawn and his wife Malinda Yawn, are both descendants of Nicholas Yawn (Yon, Yonn) and Christiaina ? (unusual spelling), of Orangeburg, NC. Green Berry and Malinda are my G-G-Grandparents. Green Berry is buried in Williamsburg (MS) Methodist and Catholic Cemetery. I believe his ancestors are (by generation): Isaac Yawn...John Yawn...Nicholas Yawn. I believe Malinda's ancestors are: Jackson Willis Yawn (Louisa Odom)...Simon Yawn (Nancy Chaves)...Simon Yawn...Nicholas. I am interested in your theory about John's brothers in Decatur Co., GA. I have other random information about John (son of Nicholas and Christiaina, which I recently found in an old "mimeographed" file. I don't know where it originated, so I have no verification of its authenticity. On August 23, 1772 he was given a federal grant of 200 acres on Goodland Swamp. December 3, 1887 he received a state grant of 457 acres of farmland. In the 1790 ?? census he had 4 sons under 16 years of age, 3 sons over 16 years of age, 3 daughters over 16 years of age, and owned one slave. In the 1800 ?? Census he had 2 sons under 10 years of age, 2 sons from 10-16 years of age, 2 sons 16-26 years of age and he was over 45 years of age. He had 2 females 16-26 years of age, and his wife was listed as over 45 years of age. I hope this gives you a few clues to work with. Tina
