KEITHVILLE, LA - Funeral services for Mr. Homer Yates, 74, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at King's Temple United Pentecostal Church. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Hill. Interment will follow in the Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, LA.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 4, 2009 and from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2009 at Rose-Neath's Southside Funeral Home.
Mr. Yates was born July 29, 1935 in Bivens, TX to Alton Wade and Charlie Mae Yates. He went to be with the Lord on October 2, 2009. He was a 3 million safety awarded driver at Roadway Express for 27 years. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
Homer was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, of 52 years, Lois Yates; sons, Bob Yates and wife Candy and Terry Yates and wife Kim; daughters, Debra Rhoads and husband Buster, Tricia Echols and husband Philip and Vonda Hurt and husband Steve; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 brothers; and 3 sisters.
Honoring him as pallbearers will be his grandsons, Andrew Rhoads, Jacob Yates, Kyle Echols, Josh Yates, Matthew Rhoads, Caleb Yates, and Cody Hurt.
His family celebrates the life of a humble man who touched lives with a message of love and understanding. He was a proud patriotic man and a great neighbor. He leaves a legacy here with the evidence of family and friends. Rose-Neath Funeral Home Southside Chapel 687-1256
