Phineas Yates was born in Douglas, Massachusetts, in 1826. He is detailed in the book "The Descendants of Seth Yeats (Yates) of Newport, Rhode Island, and the Descendants of John Yeats (Yates) of Providence, Rhode Island, by Edward Wallace Phillips. It is available at IUniverse.com.
Phineas ancestry is documented back to John Yeats of Providence in the late 17th century.
