I also checked earlier census records, and there are 4 John Yates born about the same year in Virginia, one in Buchanan County with parents by the name of Meyer and Catherine...but can't seem to find them on any other census either. I'm stumped! All I have been able to find out about Polly Jane is that she was a full-blooded Cherokee Indiana from Virginia, which I learned from my grandfather...my mother is named after her. I'll see if I can't get death certificates though. Thanks a lot! Notify Administrator about this message?
