Obituary---The grim monster of death entered the home of Mrs. Tom Humphrey and took away her beloved mother, Mrs. Martha Divine Yates. Mrs. Yates was born October 7, 1847 and died March 17, 1929. She professed faith in Christ at the age of 21 years and joined the Ballplay Church, known as Ebenezer, and lived a consecrated Christian until death.
She was the mother of two boys and ten girls. Several months ago she had a fall resulting in a broken hip, which was partly the cause of her death.
Sister Yates was always ready to help in time of need, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was a daughter of Major Joe Divine.
Rev. J.E. Ransome conducted her funeral services, after which her remains were laid to rest, until the Resurrection Morn.”
“A precious one from us has gone,
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in that home,
Which never can be filled.”
