You are wonderfully kind to inquire. I found quite alot on Martha McCoy (wife of Amos Yates) at http://www.roootsweb.com/~kypike/mccoy.htmhttp://www.roootsweb.com/~kypike/mccoy.htm
Yeah, she was one of all those children of Allen McCoy (b 1823, m Elizabeth BLANKENSHIP (m 09-09-1841). Allen was the 11th child (out of 17) of Samuel MCCOY (s/o William MCCOY). Samuel was b abt 1782. He was the 4th child of William MCCOY / ?. (Some researchers say Cordelia). Samuel m Elizabeth DAVIS on 08-12-1801 in Tazewell Co VA. Their chdn follows:
Hiram b 1803 m (2nd) CHLOE CHAPMAN SANSOM
Rebecca b 1805, never married
John b 1807 m Margaret BURRESS
Asa b 1810, m Eleanor BURRESS, 09-14-1832
William b 1811 m Mary A. BURRESS, d/o Rachael BURRESS
Ellender b 1813 m Compton STAFFORD
Phoebe b 1816
Pleasant b 1818
Benjamin b abt 1820 m (1) Phoebe MCCOY, d/o Richard & Betsy ADKINS MCCOY, 10-31-1839. He m (2nd) Nancy ROBINETTE, d/o Nathan ROBINETTE, 09-28-1851
Lucinda b 1831 m Henderson MAYNARD 03-17-1842
Allen (my guy) b 1823 m Elizabeth BLANKENSHIP 09-09-1841
Pyrrus-Pierce b 1824 m Malinda HUNT, d/o Thomas HUNT, 11-05-1846
Ulyssus b 1826 m Rebecca (?). abt 1847
Uriah b 1827 m Elizabeth RUTHERFORD abt 1847
Sarah 'Sally' b 1829 m Randolph MCCOY 12-09-1849. He was b 1825 and was the s/o Daniel
Jane b 1833, m Risley or Riley ROBERTS
Thomas b 1839, d 09-25-1857. Never married
Martha & Amos Yates were married two months after the 01-01-1888 fire and shooting attack by Hatfields on the McCoy home at which time 3 McCoy family members were killed, Alifare, Calvin, and one more.
According to the PikeCo KY Marriages 1866-1900:
Amos GATES (should be Yates) was age-22. He and his parents were born in Buchanan VA. Married Martha McCoy (her age-19, b Pike Co KY), at the home of Betsy McCoy 03-29-1888. But in the 1900 Pike Co Census his household is listed as Amos Yates.
1900 Pike Co KY Census
Amos Yates Mar 1863, age-35
Martha Jun 1866, age-33
Malcolm July 1889, age-10
Drewy Jan 1891 age-9
James (should be Jim) Jan 1893, age-7
Donley Nov 1895 age-4
Perry Jan 1899 age-one
In the 1910 PikeCo Census
Amos age-43 gen farm
Roxie age-27
Malcum (should be Malcolm) age-21 odd jobs
Drewie age-18 labor railroad
James (should be Jim) age-16 odd jobs
Emil (should be Earmel)age-7
Beulah age-14
Pearlie age-10
It lists Martha as his wife, but in the 1910 Census it lists Roxie as wife. So Martha has died by 1910.
Maybe you are NOT overwhelmed by now. Perhaps your thanks to me could extend to your preserving or saving my info for your future research or referral use. That would make me very very happy.
But all in all. You are kind as an individual. I have seen many of your postings and have never found you to be anything other than helpful, informative, interested, and willing. Hey, Friend, keep on keeping on. You are truly a credit to us all.

P.S. According to Bo McCoy, I qualified for entry into the McCoy Membership. I have my certificate listing me as a member, and my name is on the McCoy site page as a sponsor (for a yearly membership due of $12.00). Cool, huh?
