hi nancy, For a recent map go to multimap.com & go from stoke (in centre). For history details and map, search "british history online + HORTON". I read the book some time back. The parish records for horton up to c.1720 are washed out & rushton spencer's are lost. Many heaths in area. even in farming. I assume you know JANE HEATH YARDLEY WAS MARRIED 30/12/1663 in cheshire, because william Yardley was greatly involved with cheshire and lancashire quakers. Preached very widely. Also know that a Heath family of seven from few miles away emigrated in 1700.
PS . Ravensclough IS a delightful creek in a very rural area.
