Louisa Yardley was my g grandmother and Mary Elizabeth was my g aunt. Louisa was married to John Henry Duckett and they immigrated to Canada in I believe sometime between 1850's or 1860's. Mary Elizabeth eloped with a Leonard Betts who was a coachman who was employed by the Yardley family. The Yardley family did not approved of L. Betts and disowned her and disinherited her from the family fortune .. which was I believe the "Yardley's" of London .. This information has just come to me from a history book called SPLIT RAIL THE HISTORY OF ARTEMESIA TOWNSHIP. Am looking to learn more of the Yardley family in England.
