I am a great grandaughter of Mattie Marie Yarbrough Perritt, daughter of Ambrose Barrick Yarbrough. I have some interesting letters from Lucy, Mattie's sister.

And it is said that Ambrose killed his brother-in-law, who beat his sister - this was supposed to have occurred in the winter of 1890-91, in Alabama. Ambrose then fled to Texas. And I was also told Ambrose would go to town for supplies, get drunk, dance on the flour and the mules would bring him home; and that he had a relative who was a law officer in Alabama, but I had not heard that Ambrose was a law man himself.

Also, I found it interesting that Robert H. - Mattie's brother was a bootlegger, because I know that Jim Perritt, Mattie's husband made liquor in the bathtub and sold it (before he got caught). This was confirmed by their daughter, my paternal grandmother, Lillian Perritt Carlile.

Does anyone know who James' parents were (Ambrose Barrick's) grandparents? I see Tabitha's maiden name is Swaim or is that Swain? Anything on her family?
