You have the right Mary! Yes, Laura Bittick married Charlie Smith. My grandmother, a daughter, of Laura's half-sister Louise Davis, remembered them.
I knew about the Bittick marriage because Mary's marriage record to Eli Van Buren Davis gives her last name as Bittick and because Laura's last name was Bittick. I just could never find a record of Mary's marriage to a Bittick. I've even been to Hempstead County, AR in search of it. Where did you find a record of it? I knew that the Bittick husband was killed in the war.
Also, I have somewhere in my files a photograph of Laura. I've forgotten who else is in the picture--one of the other half-sisters, maybe. Laura looks like Mary Yarberry Bittick Davis.
My grandmother never could tell me where Laura and Charlie ended up. Where were they? Did they go to west Texas with the Davis family? I wonder how it is that the Smiths forgot the Davis siblings?
