I may be confused, or there may be more than one John Lapsley Yantis. I will go back and check my files.

I have a John Lapsley Yantis that was (I think) a brother of my Great Great Grandmother Priscilla (Yantis) Larsh. Their father was John Yantis and their mother was Priscilla
Catherine Lapsley.

He is mentioned in a history of Liberty, Missouri about the Old School Presbyterian Church, South--March 1834 "Rev. John L. Yantis". Seems I recall something in a history of Kansas City, Missouri and a history of Saline County, Missouri.

If my memory is faulty and I'm in error I apologise. If I can re-find the reference material I will post if here.
