Yandes in Oaxaca, Mexico

My grandmother, Jeanette Yandes Thompson Hopkins (1875-1949) told my older sister and me stories of a family connection with Yandes in Mexico. She was the daughter of Kate Yandes and A. Theodore Thompson, m. 2 Nov 1871 in Auburn (DeKalb Co) IN, her grandfather being (I believe) S.L.(? = Simon Lafayette?) Yandes of Auburn (b. ca 1825 d. 1878). Records of the church of Santa Maria Zaachila in Oaxaca show [in the early 1830s] Esteban Yandes m. Juana Augustana Lopes on 14 Dec 1835, Maria Ramona Yandes m. Francisco Lopes before 1831, Jose Crisanto[?] Yandes m. Maria Ysabel Antonio[?] 7 Feb 1831, Lorenzo Yandes m. Maria Antonia Aragon 30 Dec 1830, Jose Miguel Yandes m. Maria Josefa de la Cruz 29 Apr 1832 -- son Jose Julio b. 21 Dec 1835 to Jose Crisanto and Maria Ysabel, son Jose Ebaristo b. 26 Oct 1835 to Lorenzo and Maria Antonia -- and quite a number of marriages and children of marriages in the 1850s and 1860s. The only name of all these I can recall my grandmother mentioning was Isabel, but as there was an Isabel in her husband's family (my grandfather Hopkins), the recollection isn't worth much. If anyone has anything on Yandes of Oaxaca, I would like to hear from them. -- Jared Lobdell
