Yantis/Jantes Pickaway/Fairfield Co's OH

NOTE: I posted this following information for someone in another part of GenForum who was researching the YANTIS/YANTISS surname that had Pickaway Co., Ohio connections. I thought it may be helpful for other Yantis researchers. Also note that although these baptismal records were from a church in Fairfield County, Ohio, I've found that many of the pre-1856 congregation were Pickaway Co. residents until they left in 1856 to form their own church in Marcy (of Pickaway Co., OH). Also, some of the records in the book I cite were transcribed from German.

The following is a cut'n paste from another message:
-------------------------------------------

JANTES, Elisa Anna b 20 Dec 1829, bap 22 Aug 1830; parents Salomon and Maria Jantes; sponsor(s): Elisabeth Jantes

JANTES, Daniel David b 21 Dec 1831, bap: 15 May 1833; parents listed as "Salomon and Maria Anna Jantes"; sponsors were "Heinrich and Catarina Jantes, grandparents".

Ahh. You said something about Longenbach? I think here's your confirmation.
Henrich and Catarina JANTES were sponsors for the baptism of Samuel LONGENBACH on 24 Jun 1832, Samuel was b 15 Feb 1832, child of Jacob and Catarina LONGENBACH.

JINTES, Lidia Catarina b 26 Apr 1835, bap 21 Jun 1835, child of Daniel and Elisabth Jintes. Sponsor: Lidia Jintes.

Henrich and Catarina JANDES were sponsors for the 19 Jun 1836 baptism of Joseph Herbi DRAN b 21 Jun 1835, child of Benjamimn and Elisabeth DRAN

Lida JANDES was the sponsor for the 31 May 1829 baptism of Ellenor Catharina LONGENBACH b 03 Mar 1829, child of Jacob and Catharina.

Carolus GLUCK and Elisabeth JANDES were sponsors for the 10 Oct 1824 baptism of David KELLER b 08 Aug 1824, child of Jacobus and Elisabeth KELLER.

I'm sure these are yours. This is just the spelling of the German names then. All the YOUNGS in this book are spelled Jung. You mentioned Solomon and Mary Yantes having a child Daniel D. Yantes. You didn't mention any dates for him, but it appears to me that it's the Daniel David JANTES b 1 Dec 1831 whose parents are listed as Salomon and Maria Anna. If even mentions the grandparents names since they were the sponsors, and those are the names you said were Solomon's parents. I think you've struck it rich for the day, finding these dates and such.

As far as the LONGENBACH's, there are many of those in my online database.

All of these entries, above, came from "Churchbooks of the Lutheran and German Reformed Congregations of the Glick/Salem (Union)/Brick Church, 1808-1915, Bloom Township, Fairfield County, OH", Fairfield Co. Chapter OGS, 1993. This church is located on Alspach Road near Lithopolis, across the road from the Hoy/Glick/Brick Cemetery in Bloom township. Check out the locality of Lithopolis to Pickaway Co. (it's close).

Also, Jacob LONGENBACH and Catharine YANTES were married 14 Apr 1828 in Pickaway Co., OH. You'll want to check the online database on my "Genealogy in Bloom Twp., Fairfield co., OH" site for any details I haven't mentioned on the LONGENBACH info I have, as well as search for info on any other ancestors from this locale. The database is at http://www.geocities.com/foorgenealogy/gene.html and has census info, too, that may be of help.
