Melchior Yant and Wilhelm Jans both immigrated to America in 1738 from the Palatinate on the Rhine River in southwest Germany. Hans Georg Jundt immigrated to America in 1731 from the Alsace region of France located across the Rhine River from the Palatinate. The Yants, Janses and Jundts were all immigrating to America because of religious persecution and economic reasons so all had that in common. They came from the same region in Europe and could have had a common ancestor several generations back but I have no evidence of this as I have not done any research on their German ancestry. I will grant you that there is considerable difficulty in sorting out the later descendants of these three families in America as the Yount, Younts, Yonts, Younce, Yonce etc. spelling variations of their surnames causes much confusion.
