Yandle-Hellums/Helums

Taney County, Missouri 1850 Census has a Hellums family - P384A. The family seems to be related with the oldest being Hellums born in North Carolina ca. 1795 (55 y.o.) with a Hellums wife(?) from Georgia. Then a male Helums with the surname change in spelling in the household from... possibly TN. Then the list, possibly of children, but not sure whose children, of surname Helums born in MO. This is very poor handwriting by census taker and difficult to read. Nevertheless, the spelling from Hellums after the first two entries to Helums is so obvious I doubt their was a mistake by the taker (but an assumption... I know, I know!). Under the Hellums/Helums family is the Yandle family with a 15 year old female in their household, also a Helums, born in Kentucky. Yandel (44 y.o.) was born in North Carolina.

I have seen someone's attempt at deciphering the takers handwriting in other documents and using the spelling Helms. I believe that to be an incorrect decipher.

I am looking for my g-grandmother, Sarah Ann (Hellums) Cornelison b. 1856 MO d. 1924. She is buried near Fordland, MO. What the family knows (a stretch) is her father was 1/2 Cherokee and left before she was born. I have a letter written by my grandmother, Sarah's daughter, that states this. Sarah's mother died either in or from complications of childbirth. Sarah called the woman that raised her Aunt Phoebe/Feebe. Aunt Phoebe/Feebe always wore black and walked great distances to visit. Nothing else is known. We cannot find this woman either.

Hoping this rings somebody's bell.

Best wishes to all in their research.
