Hey Linda, We went to the state archives in Raleigh. It is a treasure trove of unbelievable records. If you ever go, be sure to plan for what you want. It is, for us at least, the best way. You can get really overwhelmed by the amount and type of records there. Most of the counties records are housed there. They have a modest fee for copying. You can research on line, and send in a request for the info, but that is a minimum of $20.00. I have done it, but since we enjoy the travel so much, we will go again! ROAD TRIP!! Some of our research in North Carolina was in Lee County, where my moms family [ Mcgillivary ] first planted themselves in 1789. They came from the Isle of Skye, Scotland. You must be like most of us hooked on geno. We have to "tred the ground" that our forefathers did. It is great fun, especially when you make a find, or even meet up with distant cousins. Have to close for now.Take care and be in touch. "Cuzzin" Dan Notify Administrator about this message?
