Alice,
Thanks so much for your response. I'm sure our Agnus Yancey's are one in the same, though the actual name of the man she married was "Joseph Cullen Bryant" but he did go by the name "Cullen" (as you were saying) since he was named after his father and going by "Cullen" instead of "Joseph" made it less confusing.

I have learned quite a bit since posting this, so I thought I'd share it with you. I was contacted by a close relative of "Cullen's" on the Bryant side and they said it was "Cullen" who was Cherokee. They sent pictures and even sent a copy of proof that their Bryant family were members of the Cherokee Nation. These documents also had their roll number ("Cullen's" included).

She told me that "Cullen" was Cherokee and that his wife Agnus was part "Blackfoot" or something of the sort. But she said Agnus didn't go by her first name either, that she went by "Toot's" or "Tootsie" (sorry I have to check my notes to be sure).

So, are you a relative from Agnus Yancey's side? Do you know what her heritage was? Do you know if she had some Blackfoot as well or if it was something else? This is my husbands Ggrandmother, but he was adopted, so he never knew. Finding his heritage has been very important to him. Any help is very much appreciated.
Wado (Thanks),
Sharleen
