My sources include a book, "Xander/ Sanders Family", by George A. Neidert, 1952, Reading, PA. My initial information came from this source.
When I looked up the 1850 Census on Heritage Quest Online - which gives the actual census images - I found Jonathan and and Magdalena "Hander" listed in Weisenberg Twp., Lehigh Co.,PA, with 4 children and Jonathan's mother, Margaretha, living with them.
The "John Handner" you found is most likely a misspelling. In fact, this was the spelling given on the 1860 Census for Weisenberg Twp. It's also where Addison Gressly is listed.
I've been attempting to ascertain that George's wife is a "Kressly", mainly from Weisenberg Church baptismal records, where a number of their children were baptized. I found a few records for Jacob and Bernhart "Gaessel, Gresel and Kresel" but that's about all.
