Hello Wyssbrod Family page,

I did a search at for Wyssbrod and found this page. I actually did not believe I was going to find anything. To me, Wyssbrod is a unique last night, especially here in the US.

The only Wyssbrod story I know is my grandfather and grandmother (Robert and Julia Weisbrot) came to America right before World War II. On arrival from northern Switzerland, they changed the spelling of the last name to Wyssbrod in order to Americanize it.

My grandparents settled down in Louisville, KY. My grandfather opened up and ran a cheese shop.

My grandfather pasted away when my father was a little kid. However, my grandmother live to be 98 or 99 years old. In her last several years of life, it was easier to talk to here in the little amount of German I knew at that the time than in English.

I have never been to close to the Wyssbrod side of my family, partly due to my grandfather's death before I was born and my father was an only child, but if anyone out there has information I would be interested.
