Sorry for the delay in responding, but my e-mail settings seem to have been screening out the notification messages from Genealogy Forum. The William Wynne you mention (who married Echols) seems to be a mystery man. Hisparents have not been identified. Common sense would link him to Colonel William Wynne and wife, Frances, of Pittsylvania County, since two of the colonel's daughters married into the Echols family. Colonel William Wynne did have a son named William, but he has been identified as the William Wynne who moved to frontier territory in present day Tazewell County, established Wynne's Fort on the north fork of the Clinch River, and raised a large family there by three successive wives. I just visited the location of Wynnes' Fort in Tazewell County about three weeks ago. The fort no longer exists, but there is a historic marker there. It is probable that William Wynne was a liason for the fur trade which was centered there through the likes of Daniel Boone, the Skaggs brothers, Mathias Harman and others. William Wynne married into the Harman family with his first marriage. I'm sorry I can't help with the parents of the William Wynne you mention. It seems likely that he was related to Colonel Wynne's branch of the family, however.
