Peter Townsend Wynne of Sumner Co.,TN
Who were the parents of Peter Townsend Wynne, born Dec. 17, 1834 in Sumner Co., TN?I just found, in my "stack" a complete copy/packet of his civil war records. When he applied for a pension he was a resident of Covington, Tipton Co., TN
His application states that he was a member of Company H, 1st Tennessee Heavy Artillery, A. J. Fisher, Captain. He was wounded in the battles of Britton's Lane and Medon but was disabled while on detail at Ft. Morgan at the mouth of Mobile Bay."I was detailed for ordinance service at Ft. Morgan about the last of July or 1st of August 1864 and while in the shell room handling 128 pound solid shot with my feet down between shells and in a stooping position, I wrenched my back rupturing or otherwise injuring my left kidney and have never regained my health.. . I was captured. . .raise some poultry and sell some eggs. . . two colts worth about $80.00. No real estate or other personal property."The packet contains records of his service, including while prisoner of war in New York.
Is there anyone out there who is a direct descendant?
