Wynnes of Dallas Tx and Marshall Co MS
My g grandmother Alice Wynne of Marshall Co MS mar. my g grandfather George W. Ervin in Dallas in 1875. She was his
second wife. His first wife was Sarah Jane Martin of Ruther-
ford Co TN. Her parents were Dr. Thomas Martin and Martha
Esther Mason. They moved to Tishomingo Co MS c 1840, and the
Ervins, Robert, his wife Jane Tennesson and son G.W. were
there by 1845. G.W. and Sarah J. Mar in 1849 and are all on
the 1850 census in the same household. Sarah died in 1874,
and her 2 month-old baby Lizzie died the very next day. I'm
trying to get to the bottom of the Wynne/Ervin connection,
and the key seems to be Marshall Co MS and N.B. Forrest's
Cav. Alice's father Joel E. Wynne was a son of Isham Wynne
of Wilson Co TN. His first wife was Sarah Herron. His second
wife was Margaret Ross, and he mar. my g g grandmother Martha
Ann Pointer of Marshall Co MS in 1847. Alice was b. in 1848.
Still trying to piece these Wynne/Pointer/Ervin connections
togehter. My g grandfather G.W. Ervin is on the 1870 Hill
Co TX census as G.W. Irving. We think he moved to TX in
1866, but the Pointers waited till 1874. Jesse Watkins Wynne,
Joel's nephew was born in Texas in either 1835 or 1839. The
Wynnes made eastern Ark and Memphis TN there final stops.
