Mary, thank you for your message, which I find very interesting. However, I doubt that you are related to the Williams Wynn family unless you can find a Williams name in your background. My impression is that the Williams Wynn family have preserved the double surname intact, most certainly the direct descendants have, right to the present day. The estate of Wynnstay, Ruabon to which you refer came into the Williams family when Sir John Wynn 5th baronet of Gwydir died childless in 1719 and bequeathed everything to young Watkin Williams on condition Watkin took the additional surname of Wynn. However I must say that if you were indeed related to the Williams Wynn family under the name of Wynn only, it would be very significant.
But what I would like to progess is your Shropshire residency and what that might mean. Without being absolutely certain, my first known direct relative is Cornelius Wynn, born about 1710. He married at Cleeve Prior, Worcestershire in 1732. They had two survivingchildren Mary (about 1735) and Thos (about 1743), both baptised at Cleeve Prior. It could well be that Cornelius was a Shropshire lad.
Thos married and had three children James (about 1765), Ann (about 1768), and Thos (about 1770), all born in or around Worcester. James later married in Devon, and moved to Falmouth, Cornwall.
The point is that Worcester is of course very close to Shropshire. I do not know of any family of 12 brothers, but if you could put together as many names and dates of relatives as you can, as far back as possible, I would like to look for possible links.
Nice to hear from you Mary, and I do hope we can keep the contact going. Regards.
