I recently read Betty Cooper's post which was posted in 2000 about Harris McKinley Wyly. I will attach it at the end of this posting.
My name is William C. Kinley, Jr. the GG grandson of James Kinley b c1799 in NC. I have had a DNA test run which indicates I am a perfect match to Kennerly’s. I first believed James Kinley's father was a Samuel Kennerly who died in 1804 in Cabarrus County NC, but now the possibility of being a Wyly descendent has to be confirmed or denied before I proceed.
I would appreciate any comments.

Hi, I found the following info in a database called Gene Pool Individual Records at ancesty.com. I am particulary interested in the one "James Kinley" who apparently changed / shortened his name. He appears on the 1830, 1840 & 1850 census in Franklin Co., GA (as James Kinley). I believe that he is the father of Elizabeth Caroline Kinley, who was born November 23, 1823 & married Elias Mitchell Bentley. Elias & Elizabeth Caroline raised their family in Habersham County, GA. I wonder why James "Kinley" changed his name; did he just wish to shorten it? Any family info / connections would greatly appreciated:

Also listed was: JOHN HARRIS WYLY, b 1 Feb 1816, Landin Blount, TN, died 15 Oct 1866 in Atlanta, GA. married Mary Henrietta Parks. His parents: James Rutherford Wyley & Sarah Hawkin Clark.
