I went to Dunlop, Scotland about 4 years ago. It is in Ayrshire and located about 3 to 5 miles from Stewarton. I believe that the Wyllies that are related to Pam, Jim, and I are also related to the Wyllies of Stewarton.
The name in Scotland is spelled with one "l", Wylie.
Lesley Stainer, l.stainer@ntlworld.com, wrote to me the other day looking for any information on the Illinois Wyllies. If you would contact her, I am sure she would greatly appreciate it.
Do you have any information on the Wylies from Dunlop? Particularly Alexander Wylie. He is my gggrandfather and I believe that he was from Dunlop. He married an Irish maid and was disinherited by the family. He would have been born somewhere around 1790 to 1805.
I believe that his father's name was John and that he was a silk weaver.
