Peter Wylie came to America aboard the "SS Donegal" in 1767 from Belfast to Charleston,SC. He was 50 yrs of age at the time. Aboard were his wife Ann,47;children: Margaret,20;Francis,17;Mary,13;James,18 and William,7. Also aboard were his brother James,45;James' wife Sarah,38;children:Rebecca,9(My Ancestor);Margaret,7; Samuel,5;John,3 and Sarah's mother Mary McKinney,70. They couldn't make it in Scotland so they migrated to Ireland, but failed there, so took advantage of an offer from South Carolina to own land and set sail for the New World. Most of the Family members continued on to the Chester District in the North Central part of the State, were they received land from the British Crown. Ironically, the Wylies fought against the British during the Revolution. They were Lowland Scots originally from the region around Ayr, Scotland. I found their Baptismal records years ago in the LDS Library. It was from Scotish Church Records. The Records show Peter and James as children of Adam and Jean. It was on microfilm and apparently never put on the internet in the same manner.Hope this helps
