More on Wineland/Wyland: According to family researchers our beginning ancestor was John WINELAND, b 1704, poss.Switzerland, and his wife Magdalena. This couple resided in
Germany. Their only known son was Johanne Peter WINELAND,b abt 1730. Peter Wineland arrived in America on the ship "Patience" 11 May 1750, docking at Philadelphia, PA. Peter then supposedly went to Luray, VA where he married Magdalena, b 1730.
They then abt 1780 went to Morrisons Cove, Bedford Co., PA. Peter Wineland died about 1812. Their children were: Jacob, Christian,
Peter Jr., Abraham, Mary, Barbara, Magdalena & John. My gggrandfather, John Wyland, b 1807 PA has been reported to be the son of Peter Jr Wineland. However, I can find nothing to document this tie to Peter, Jr. Peter, Jr was to have been born in 1768 in VA, and died 1816 in Montgomery Co., OH. He was to have married twice, first to Barbara Hega and one dau. Mary married to Jacob Cripe (Greib). He then married Elizabeth Martin Bauser and had children, Polly, Catherine,
Abraham and John. [my anc]. I have yet another researcher who has Peter married to Nancy Hoover as well as Barbara Hega. One record is Peter WILAND married abt 1794 PA Elizabeth Martin. However, Mary, daughter of Barbara Hega was born 5 Sep 1798 so this confuses that record. HELP!
