Jacob Wyer was born Sept. 16, 1820, the first child of Barney Wier and Elizabeth Clodfelter. Jacob Wyer married Mary Teary in Sept. 1839 (NC Marriage Bonds). He married Barbara Bodenhamer Abt. 1851. They had 8 children, all born in Davidson Cty, NC. The children: Elizabeth Jane b.1852, Margaret Louise b.1854, Adam b.1856 & d.1857, Lorenzo b. 1858 & d. 1859, Phillip b. 1860, John De Marion b.1863, Andrew Lincoln b.1867 and William Grant b.1869.
Jacob and Barbara moved to McDonough Cty, Il in 1871. Jacob died of a runaway horse accident on June 18, 1871. Barbara died on Feb. 19, 1884.
Barney and Elizabeth had 7 children: Jacob b.1820, Hamilton b.1822, Philip b. Abt 1824, Eliza b.1828, John b. 1831, Margaret Jane b.1836 and Mary Elizabeth b.1837.
Elizabeth's ancestors are well documented from Switzerland back to 1540. It is still unclear as to Barney Wier's ancestors. Some believe he is the son of Barney Wier, Jr. who signed his NC Marriage Bond in May 1820. He may also be the orphan son of Jacob Wier d. 1800, who left three children, Millie, Barney, and John. Barney, the orphan, is about the same age as the Barney Wier who married Elizabeth Clodfelter.
I just recently started researching the Wyer line and came by this information from many Wyer ancestors. I am a
g granddaughter of Phillip, son of Barbara and Jacob. I have a picture of Phillip and his wife and children. Would love to see the picture of Phillip and his brothers and sister. Also would love to find a picture of Jacob and Barbara.
