My maternal grandmother was Margaret Jane Wye, eighth child of George Wye and Maria Worsfold,who were married in Wonersh 13th June 1859. George was born in Godalming and most of the rest of my family originates from there.
I have recently made the link through to the four (?) generations of Wyes who were connected to the British Factory in Oporto, and can trace back to John Wye 1704 -1784 who married Sarah Page. Can you go further back?
There seems to be an interesting mystery re Sarah and her brother(?) John Page, who married Ann Dowker and whose daughter Charlotta Maria then married her cousin George Wye in the British Factory Chaplaincy in Oporto on 15/7/1766. Were John and Sarah Page twins, as they were born in the same year (I have no d.o.b.)
