Leon Reporter, Leon, Iowa Thursday, January l3, l92l MRS. ARTHUR WYCOFF and daughter, of Grand River, spent the past week with MRS. H.L. BRAMMER. LLOYD VANDERPOL, who lives at Beaconsfield, had his home burn last Monday, they got the most of their things out of the house but their fruit all burned as it was upstairs. The VANDERPOOL family had been to Grand River visiting with their friends over Sunday and returned home Monday and started a fire. The fire started upstairs and the train men were the first to give the alram and helped them to remove the things from the burning house. The family soon got another house and moved into it at once. MRS. CHARLES FOLAND spent Tuesday with MRS. S.W. FOLAND. MRS. GEORGE FOLAND, SR. and children, of Osceola, who have bene visiting with her daughter, MRS. RALPH PALMER, returned to her home Saturday. MR. and MRS. ARTHUR EVANS moved last Thursday from the JOHN BAKER farm to Grand River in the WILLIAM HEWLIT property in the west part of town. MR. and MRS. RALPH PALMER and son of Tennessee, spent Sunday at J.L. BROWN's. MR. and MRS. EDWARD WOOD and family spent Sunday with MR. and MRS. VANTA. Meeting still continues at Pleasant Valley and many souls are being born into God's Kingdom. One one, come all. Last Monday evening about six o'clock as ELMER MUNYON and family were returning home from Grand River they met with a bad accident as he was coming up to the west end of the Grand River Bridge; it was very slick and one of his horses fell down, just then some boys came on the bridge driving a car and ran into his team pushing his team and wagon back hurting the horse that was down. He had a very hard time getting his horse up but he finally did and drove on home. The boys came very nearly going off in a ditch, and if they had, they would have been killed, they broke one of their wheels and did some other damage to their car. All were thankful the accident was no worse. MR. and MRS. WESLEY BOLES received a telegram Sunday morning stating that their daughter, MRS. ALBERT KIRKPATRICK, of Kansas was at the point of death. MRS. BOLES and son LLOYD left on the first train. MR. and MRS. KIRKPATRICK were born and lived in this neighborhood all of their lives until moving to Kansas a few years ago. JAMES MUNYON and IRA FOSTER spent Sunday with CHARLES FOLAND. MISS LOIS FOLAND called on her grandmother Monday morning.
