On the 1856 Iowa State Census, the Vandever family indicates they have been in Iowa 6 years putting their move date right around 1850, so they may have missed the census. The Wyckoff's show they have only been in Iowa 4 years so they should be found in 1850 Indiana.
Found a Nichs Wykoff family in Johnson County, IN on the 1860 census with a Nathan VanDevier, age 29 in the household. This family was in Switzerland County, IN on the 1850 census.
