son of Samuel Wyckoff and Maria "Mary or Polly" Burger.
Samuel was born June 10, 1760 in Hunterdon Co. N.J.He was a soldier in the Revolution
enlisting in a Maryland unit. After the war he lived in Loudoun Co. VA. and then to Hardy Co. (which is now in W.V)where his parents and the rest of his sibs were living.
From there he and his family moved into Ohio toward Chillicothe, which was at the time the State Capitol. His dau. Mary married Joshua J. Speakman who is my GGG-Grandfather, and settled along the Pike Run, in Eagle Tsp. Vinton Co. OH. He moved North into Eden Tsp. in Licking Co. for a short while to claim his bounty lands granted to him for his service. Samuel and Mary are both buried in the Pike Run cem.

So large in fact that they protected the family from want for over a hundred years. When Nicholas died along with the lands, each son was to get 750 pounds. That was when in most wills of this time and in this area 1-30 pounds was the norm.
