Franklin, I searched a little more for Painter and found that it was located about 40 miles northwest of Cody, probably on Sunlight Creek. John R. Painter was in the 1910 census with his family in the Sunlight precinct. The post office at Painter was established in December 1902 and discontinued in October 1950.
