Hi there
I have hit a brick wall. My G-G-G grandfather, James Sullivan was born in Indiana in 1825-6. According to the 1850, 1860, 1870 and 1880 Census data, his father was born in Kentucky. I think he may also be James Sullivan, born around 1790 in Kentucky, and I have found him on the 1850, 1860 and 1870 censuses. I am dying to know if this is the right direction to research. If anyone has any info on any early Sullivan immigration to the States, specifically Kentucky and Indiana I would love to know. I am also so curious why these Irish Sullivans would come over so much before the famine. Here is a brief outline of my line (I have lots of siblings names, etc)
James Sullivan b. around 1826 Indiana married to
Rachel Doyle Sullivan b. around 1834 Indiana (married 1853, Scott county, Indiana)
William Thomas Sullivan b around 1860-61 Indiana married to
Permelia Erhardt (Ahart) b around 1863 West Virginia
Howard Joseph Jefferson Sullivan b around 1884 Salina Kansas, died around 1935, lived in Canon City Colorado
married (Nov 1905) to
Margaret Louise Carrigan b 1888 Leadville Colorado died 1986 29 Palms California
Keith Edwin John Sullivan b 11-Nov-1909 Victor, Colorado died 1985 Joshua Tree California (had brothers named Harry, Donald and Pudge)died 1985 Joshua Tree California
