Sharon, many thanks for your reply.I have fairly sketchy information on Hugh Brawley and nothing on John (who looking at the dates may well have been Hugh's son). This is what I have:-
Hugh Brawley was born in around 1869 in Calderbank, Lanark, Scotland. His brother, James, was 2 years older.I believe that the 2 brothers emigrated to Rock Springs in the 1880's possibly with another brother Daniel (born 1865?) who married Helen Keenan on December 10, 1888 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. I understand that Daniel and his wife later returned to live in Newmains, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
The brothers were the children of James and Sarah (McLauchlin?).James senior was born in Glasgow in approximately 1839 and Sarah was born in Ireland in approximately 1842. James and Sarah also had 3 other boys -
Peter (1871), Matthew, (1877) Patrick (1885) and a daughter Elizabeth (1862).Although I know that Matthew visited Rock Springs in 1908 he returned to Scotland and is my father-in-laws father.Elizabeth remained in Scotland as did Peter although he may have visited America.Patrick emigrated to America in aprroximately 1910 and I think he may have married an American girl.He never returned to live permanently in Scotland and I understand he moved to New York.Patrick had a daughter from a previous relationship - Mary (Molly) who was born in Newmains, Lanarkshire in 1903.Mary emigrated to New York in the mid 1920's where she worked as a children's nurse for many years. Most of my info comes from my father-in-law (87) & also 1881 Scottish census.Sorry this is a bit disjointed.
Any help would be much appreciated - Lynn.
