Then the division moved south to take Breisig 11 Mar 45. It improved positions along the Rhine and guarded Remagen Bridge from 12-20 Mar 45. At 0400 on 21 Mar 45 the division crossed the Rhine River and the 38th Inf cleared the region between the Rhine and Wied Rivers, Datzeroth, and Segendorf. The 23rd Inf crossed the Rhine on 23 Mar 45 and the 38th Inf fought to expand its Wied Bridgehead while attached to the 9th Armored Div. With the 9th and 23rd Inf in the lead, the division took Ransbach and other towns 26 Mar 45 on the north flank of V Corps. By 27 Mar 45 it finished mopping up stragglers and clearing its zone.
