Hello! I was wondering if someone could tell me what a S2 means. My Grandfather served in the Navy WWII and his marker (headstone) says USNR WWII S2, I have nothing to go on except this and a picture of him in the Navy, this would be the only link I can find out what he done while he served, he enlisted in VA. but moved around alott, he was born 1912 and died 1957, in the VA hospital, his name was LeRoy Banks Holcomb, but most people called him Elroy. Any info. or help would be great.
Thanks,
Nancy
