Am researching Tec. 4, Sgt. Cecil J. Cash who was with the 197th AAA AW Bn, Battery C. He was from St. Francois Co., Mo. Enlisted at St. Louis, trained at Ft. Bliss, Tx. Was on Omaha Beach on D-Day. Was murdered by Nazi's at Baugnez Crossroads, Malmedy, Belgium, 17 Dec. 1944 although official records give his death date as 19 Dec. 1944. He was my mother's first husband & I am trying to write a biography about him. Personnel Records Center in St. Louis claim his records were lost in the big fire there in 1973. Have written to other sources that they suggested but haven't acquired any info yet. Any suggestions, advice or info anyone can provide will be greatly appreciated.
