Hi, You may be one of the lucky ones. Reason I say that is because there was a big fire in 1973 that burned millions of Army/Air Corps records but supposedly from last name H-Z. So, if you haven't requested his military records, google Standard Form 180 and complete as much of it as you can before submitting it.

I believe that this is his partial enlistment record which should help with the Standard Form 180.
