The 259th Infantry Regiment was assigned (not attached) to the 65th Infantry Division while the division served in the ETO during 1945. The 259th Infantry Regiment participated in two campaigns while in the ETO:

Rhineland September 15, 1944-March 21, 1945
Central Europe March 22-May 8, 1945

Those two campaigns would be indicated by two Bronze Campaign Stars on the Veteran's ETO Campaign Ribbon.
Respectfully, may I ask for your source that the Veteran was awarded two Bronze Star Medals for Valor? This is atypical, in that an Oak Leaf Cluster is generally awarded for a subsequent awarding of the same medal.
